A STUDY ON THE EXAMINATION OF THE UNEMPLOYMENT ANXIETY OF PROSPECTIVE SCIENCE TEACHERS

The aim of this research is to determine the unemployment anxiety levels of prospective science teachers and to examine the reasons for their anxiety, and suggestions for the solutions. This research was conducted with 80 prospective teachers who were studying in the 4th grade of Mathematics and Science Education Department, within the Science Education Program of a state university, in the fall semester of 2017-2018 academic year.“The Anxiety of Pre-service Teachers’ Not To Be Appointed To Teachership Scale” developed by Eskici (2016) and an open-ended questionnaire prepared by the researcher were used as the data collection tools for this study which adopted the survey method. The obtained quantitative data were analyzed by using SPSS 18.0 statistical package program and content analysis technique was used in the analysis of qualitative data. In the light of the results of this research, it was found that prospective teachers generally have unemployment anxiety at a high level. The reasons for their unemployment anxiety and the suggestions for the solutions were thematized with a focus on individual, education and system
