Assesment of Short Dental Implants with Clinical Trials: A Review

Dental implants can be applied succesfully when natural teeth are lost. Hovewer, excessive loss of bone can require advanced surgical treatments before dental implants placement. Recently, use of short dental implants are evaluated to avoid disadvantages of advanced surgical operations. Clinical success of short implants is being explored, providing an effective and practical application. In researches, surface properties of implants, bone characteristics, marginal bone loss, crown/ implant ratio, design of implant restorations and the health of periodontal structures are the main factors to be evaluated. In this review, considering clinical studies, the concept of short implants will be presented in relation to the success of the short implants in the factors assessed in the studies
