Emotional Responses of Smart Fashion Designs

Besides the technical and medical applications, the use of smart textiles has also enabled the rapid penetration of fashion designs into a completely different dimension in the field of design. It has become necessary for designers to be directed to new materials and methods other than conventional materials and methods; Interactive work is at the forefront. Fashion designs that respond to emotions increase the field of self expression and understanding and thus find solutions to communication and health problems. Fashion designs that respond to emotions called 'emotional technology' are interdisciplinary designs in which emotions are analyzed by measuring body parameters. In this study, fashion designs that react to emotions were examined by making a document review. In the scope of the study, the measurements taken from the body and the behavior of the clothes to react to these measurements were investigated. Sensoree Design Lab, Philips Design, eScent？ and SubTela designs are examined in terms of silhouettes and functioning. As a result of the study, it is predicted that the designs of the future will be directed more towards the interdisciplinary fields. As a result of the study, it has been observed that the sensors used in garments differ according to the designs. Some garment designs react to emotions with light, others react spreading an aromatic flavour etc. These designs, which are mentioned as future clothes, have been observed to have futuristic features in terms of form and material.
