Urban Records of a Political-Economic Evolution: Urban Policies in Turkey’s Historical Transformation

City itself is the place of social construction. City phenomenon as an operational field of many social systems, can also function as a resource in which systematic differentiations can be read in various aspects.In this context, this study aims to evaluate the affects of Turkey’s political-economic systemic transformation on urbanization policies and urban space. In this framework the period of 1923-1950, the period of 1950-1960, the period of 1960-1980, the period of 1980-2002 and the period from 2002 to present will be examined as phases of different political-economic characteristics with their urban counterparts
