Globalization Phenomenon Toward the Opinions of Durkheim and Globalization Function of Education

Nowadays, there is a change and transformation in all fields based on the development in information technologies. This changing process is called as globalization. Based on these changes, it has been moved to a new society which is called as information society. In this study, the subjects of globalization and information society have been investigated toward the views of Durcheim who is one of the most important names of functionalism movement. For this purpose, firstly functionalism, it is discussed about social phenomenon and the subjects of social function of education according to Durkheim. Afterwards, globalization and the subjects of information society are investigated. Finally, globalization and global functions of education are discussed in the context of Durkheim’s views
