Usage of Insect as Image in Contemporary Ceramic Art

The artists present their works influenced by the period they live in, the society, political and cultural changes and their experiences as well as nature. Each artist transforms the fact, state or being influencing himself into a work of art by using different materials in a way that is unique and expressive through mental and emotional strains. In the scope of article, ceramic insects on contemporary ceramic art have been examined. This issue has been addressed with the thought that it is an alternative theme at the point of producing works. In the article, it has been given examples from the works of local and foreign artists considering their approaches to the image of insect. As a result, it is seen that insects, which arise primarily disturbing feelings in people’s perception, are rendered differently by artists. It is seen that some artists have abstracted the insect figurine and loaded them metaphorical meanings.
