Abstract:

Global warming caused by the negative effects of greenhouse gases is one of the most important natural events affecting our world in recent years. Carbondioxide (CO2) has an important ratio (88%) in total greenhouse gases. Intensive soil cultivation, enhances CO2 emissions from soil to atmosphere due to organic matter and microorganism activities in soil; on the other hand, it leads to significant decreases in soil quality and plant yield and increases the environmental pollution. In this study, the effect of conventional tillage method, reduced tillage method and direct seeding on two different soil series in different periods of CO2 emissions in ?ukurova Region conditions were investigated. For this purpose, CO2 measurements were made in Ar?k and Baraj series located in ?ukurova University campus before sowing, after sowing period and after harvest in wheat cultivation. As a result of this study, the CO2 emission level in Arik series soils having clay textures in pre-planting and post-harvest periods were determined 6.24 kg ha-1 day-1 and 10.08 kg ha-1 day-1 respectively. In the after sowing period, CO2 emission level were found to be higher (15.12 kg ha-1 day-1) in the Baraj series soils having higher organic matter and middle textured
