The Function of Consonant -n at the End of Turkish Names of Organs

Abstract:

The words in the basic vocabulary of the languages have an important role because they constitute the preferred word category in language studies such as kinship between languages, language history, linguistic knowledge, and language teaching. Organ names, animal names, number names, kinship names, actions that meet the basic requirements (such as eating, drinking, sleeping, taking, etc.) are accepted as basic words by linguists. The names of the organs evaluated in the basic vocabulary are far from the effects of the foreign languages as well as they do not change much in the historical process and usually end with the consonants "-k, -l, -n, -?, -z", although they are one of the oldest words of the language This study carries the claim that Turkish names of organs and body regions ending with -n consonant correspond to mostly single organs in the body, suggesting that the Turkish language has an archaic singularity suffix. In line with this purpose, bounded by the names of the organs ending with -n consonant, and with a progressive approach, samples from the Orhon Inscriptions in today's standard language and in various mouths were scanned it has been tried to determine whether this consonant has any function
