Scientific and Philosophical Elements in the Works of Huseyin Rahmi Gurp？nar

Huseyin Rahmi Gurpinar, who is one of the productive names of Turkish Literature and has a well-deserved reputation for his works, has been subject of numerous researches, articles and theses. Nevertheless, the scientific and philosophical elements that he often takes part in his works, have been ignored and not been addressed except in a few studies. This aspect of Huseyin Rahmi Gurpinar, who gives importance to science and scientific thought, follows scientific developments in the period of his life time, often expresses in his works that human beings do not have much difference from other living beings and they have to obey to its rules and who benefits from many scientists, philosophers and works – though sometimes contradicted-, is so important to us that it can not be limited to a single article. In our work which we think to emphasize that this issue should also be addressed, his works titled, A marriage under the comet (1912), The Sorcerer father (1924), Crazy Philosopher (1930), Are the dead alive? (1932), First, human beings did the monkey? (1934), Resurrected Skeleton (1942) and Heart is a windmill, grinds love (1943) will be examined in the context of literature-science relation. With some passages to be given from the aforesaid works, we will reveal how scientific and philosophical elements are handled in the themes of Huseyin Rahmi Gurpinar, one of the first representatives of naturalism in Turkish literature, in accordance with the characteristic of movement which he belongs and what the community takes into account when evaluating the
