THE EXAMINATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HANDEDNESS AND SCHOOL ACADEMIC ACHIVEMENT OF SEDANTERIES AND ATHLETES TAKING PLACE IN DIFFERENT BRANCHES IN SOME HIGH SCHOOL IN ANTALYA

In this study, the relationship between hand preference and academic success of athletes in various branches and sedentary student in several high schools in Antalya province was examined. A total of 341 students, 210 males and 131 females were voluntarily participated. The "Old field Survey" was applied to the athletes and sedentary students to determine hand preference. The academic success was evaluated by using student’s grade point average. The relationship between hand preference and academic school success of athletes and sedentary students was evaluated with SPSS software. P<0.05 was accepted significant. According to the findings, female individuals were more successful than the male ones in terms of academic success. It has been found that left hand preference students have 13% better academic success than right hand preference students. Furthermore, the athlete students showed more academic success than the non-athlete at 20.8%
