Abstract:

In this research, it has been aimed to examine the level of fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities of teacher training supervisors and coordinating teachers in pedagogical formation teaching practices according to the opinions of prospective teachers. The population of the research consisted of 700 prospective teachers participating in the pedagogical formation program at Trabzon Karadeniz Technical University, Fatih Faculty of Education in the spring semester of 2016-2017 academic year. The sample consisted of 484 prospective teachers, 346 female and 138 male, who accepted to fill the scale on a volunteer and impartial basis among the prospective teachers in different branches participating in the pedagogical formation. The scale used for data collection was developed by the researcher. The data were analyzed using the SPSS.15 package software. In data analysis, descriptive statistics techniques were used whereas in comparing the variables; "t" test for parametric items, Mann-Whitney U (MWU) and Kruskal-Wallis H (KWH) test techniques for non-parametric items were used. According to obtained findings; it has been found out that teacher training supervisors from the faculty largely fulfilled their duties and responsibilities in terms of informing the prospective teachers on how to carry out the studies in the practice schools, how to evaluate the candidate's success, holding meetings with the candidates and giving feedback. However, they did not fulfill their duties and responsibilities completely in communicating with the practice school and meeting with the coordinating teacher. It has been understood that the teaching practices of the half of the prospective teachers were not monitored by the supervisors, and those whose teaching practices had been monitored were more positive about the supervisors' fulfilling their duties and responsibilities. It has been found out that the coordinating teachers always fulfilled some duties and responsibilities whereas they mostly fulfilled some others. It was determined that the opinions of the prospective teachers, who continued to the pedagogical formation, about the level of fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities of teacher training supervisors and coordinating teachers did not significantly change depending on their genders
