EXTENDED CLASSIFICATION of UAVs and THEIR FUTURE PERSPECTIVE

Studies on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are assessed as the most intriguing studies that have hit the headlines of the aviation industry for the last 20 years. Long-term studies in this area, are shown that being parallel to technological progress a rapid acceleration has taken place in the last 20 years. However, UAV studies in Turkey do not progress at the same pace as in other parts of the world. For this purpose, this publication about UAVs is prepared in the light of recent discussions and on the most important topics of UAV studies in the world. In this study, a complete description of UAV is defined and the concept of UAVs and their differences from Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) are point out. The 'classifications' made in studies about UAVs all over the world examined in detail and classification parameters and classifications made according to these parameters are tried to be investigated. Moreover, the most widely used classification method is discussed in detailedly. By means of developing technology, with the aim of drawing attention to the UAVs equivalences in our lives in today's world, the usage areas in military and civil aviation are stated in traditional and new senses. Finally, based on the worldwide general study discussion topics of UAVs, attempts are tried to form a general future perspective on UAV
