An Example of Seeking Safety for Turkey Against Syria Crisis: Operation Euphrates Shield

The Arab Spring, which started in the Middle East geography in 2011, created a domino effect and reached in Syria too. The popular movement in Syria, which has not been successful since 2011, has evolved into a civil wars days pass after the conflicts between the army and opposing groups. The power gap that emerged after these conflicts and struggle for supremacy in the region allowed PYD/YPG and ISIS to appear and led threat perception which originated from Syria to increase in Turkey where Assad regime seen as a threat. This study will address the threats and confidence crisis of the power gap and the power imbalance in Syria, while explaining the reasons for the Operation Euphrates Shield, precisely by focusing on this point
