Local Resident’s Tourism Support: A Study on Slow Cities in Turkey

This article aims to investigate the relationship between the residents’ perceptions and attitudes toward tourism development and tourism support. The paper is important due to bringing suggestions devoted to residents’ further support in order to eliminate flaws of slow city implementations. The scope of the research includes such slow cities as: Vize, Tarakl？, Yenipazar, G？k？eada, Seferihisar and Akyaka. Questionnaire method was used for data collection. Questionnaire form was conducted to 1143 respondents who were chosen with convenience sampling method between March-July 2017. 1116 forms have been analyzed. According to the survey responses, there are positive relationships between residents’ perceptions of slow city and tourism support and quality of life and tourism support. There is no statistically significant relationship between personal benefits from tourism and perceived positive effects of tourism
