AMAL FORM AND ABD AL-QADIR AL-MARAGHI’S AMAL COMPOSITIONS IN THE ANONYMOUS LYRICS COLLECTION

The Amal form is an ancient Turkish music form widely practiced during the 15th century and exists in many periodicals published during the time of Murat II and Fatih. The following century, Murabba superseded amal. In this paper, we analyzed how Amal form was practiced. We included examples from Abd al-Qadir Maraghi, who is renowned for his works being a theorist, a composer, and a performer. Having a composer of such high caliber in the history of amal form mandates that his works are reviewed and studied carefully.
