Examining of Psychometric Characteristics of Physical Education Interpersonal Self-efficacy

Abstract:

In this study, it is aimed to develop a measurement tool that can measure the interpersonal self-efficacy levels of physical education teachers as valid and reliable. This research, which was designed in mixed model, was carried out on four different study groups consisting of 895 physical education teachers in the spring term of 2016-2017 academic year. In order to provide evidence of the psychometric properties of the measurement tool, firstly, the analyzes of the construct validity were performed. In the context of construct validity, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was applied; Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used to evaluate the compliance of the structure of EFA with the data collected from a different study group. As a result of EFA, a structure consisting of 32 items and three sub-dimensions was obtained explaining %70.38 of the total variance. Within the scope of item analyzes, the corrected item total test correlation was examined in order to determine the discriminability of the items, and the difference between the mean score of %27and the mean score of the item was compared. The reliability of the measurement tool was examined by Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient and test-retest techniques. Cronbach alpha and test-retest analysis provided evidence that the measuring instrument was highly reliable. In the light of these findings, it can be said that Physical Education Teacher Interpersonal Self-Efficacy Scale is a data collection tool that can make valid and reliable measurements
