THE LINGUISTIC TREND IN THE BOOK OF “MEANINGS OF THE QURAN" FOR AL-AHFASH AL-AWSAT

Al-Ahfash al-Awsat is one of the first linguists who founded grammatical schools, he is almost the first to write in the meanings of the Quran, and it seems that this book is an interpretation of the Quran but it is not so.This research highlights and shows the linguistic trend in this book, it also shows the linguistic issues which was addressed by al-Ahfash al-Awsat .The final conclusion is that the book of “Meanings of the Quran” is the first attempt; almost, to interpret the language of the Qurans’ verses, beside it is a linguistic book that contains various linguistic issues, but the evidence and examples of these issues are the verses of the Holy Quran. Al-Ahfash in this book does not interprets Quran, but he focuses on the linguistic aspects in some verses and uses them as evidences of linguistic issues
