Soir Bleu is a short story by combining Edward Hopper’s paintings with Olen Butler’s text, blend-ing two narrative elements: image and language. The study used the pattern of the combination of language and image in Soir Bleu to analyze another different narrative form after the battle of functions of signifiers between language and image, that is, the fusion of language and image. Edward Hopper’s paintings use images as the medium to set the tone of the story for the text, and prolepsis the plot through images; Olen Butler presents a cinematic dynamic visual sense with vividly and appropriately verbal narratives. The fusion of images and texts brings readers a new aesthetic experience.
