Abstract:

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic nonspecific inflammatory disease of the rectum and colon. The main clinical manifestations are diarrhea, mucopurulent, bloody stools, and abdominal pain, which characterized by alternating episodes and remissions. The prevalence of UC has risen in our country in recent years. Medication alone is sometimes difficult to control and is associated with side effects and high costs. Diet can be an important adjunct in controlling the disease and maintaining remis-sion. There are many dietary interventions applied in the treatment of patients with UC. This article will review the progress of research on dietary intervention treatments for UC to provide new ideas for the treatment of UC.
