Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of perceived partner responsiveness on rela-tionship satisfaction and the moderating role of self-esteem. Through investigation and analysis, we conclude that there is a significant positive relationship between perceived partner responsiveness and relationship satisfaction, that is, when individuals perceive that their partner responds posi-tively to them, they will be more satisfied with their close relationship. In addition, our study found that self-esteem plays a moderating role in this relationship. Specifically, when an individual’s self-esteem level is high, the effect of perceived partner responsiveness on relationship satisfaction is weakened. These results have important theoretical and practical significance for understanding the emotional communication in intimate relationships and the maintenance of individual emo-tional health.
