Abstract:

In recent years, many studies have shown that children could develop environmentally friendly behaviors through proper guidance and education at an early age. These studies further emphasize the importance of early education in shaping children’s environmental awareness and behavior. However, although the importance of sustainable development education is widely recognized, how to effectively integrate this connotation into kindergarten education in practice is still a problem that needs to be solved. As global environmental problems become increasingly serious, sustainable development has become the focus of common concern of the international community. As an important way to cultivate future citizens and leaders, education plays a vital role in promoting sustainable development. Early education, in particular, has an irreplaceable influence on children’s formation of correct values, behavioral habits, and awareness of environmental protection. Therefore, integrating the connotation of sustainable development into early education has farreaching significance for cultivating the next generation of talents with environmental responsibility and sustainable development awareness. This article reviews the book “Children and the Environment: Early Childhood Education for Sustainable Development”. Write a book review, that aims to gain a deeper understanding of the connotation and practical methods of sustainable early childhood education and reflect the connection from sustainable early education to higher education.
