in this paper i briefly present the basis of philosophy for children program, i examine some objections that have been made to it, and i explain why i think its comprehension implies the rejection of certain ideas that could be described as traditional within the conception of philosophical education. finally, i value the importance of the project not only because it seeks the cognitive development of the students, but also because it aims to develop a certain character on them. one that enables the construction of a more fair society.
