Abstract: this article describes and analyzes the experiences at the universidad europea de madrid of some academic programs specifically designed for professional workers, with schedules compatibles with their working hours, within the concept known as “permanent learning”. the situation of technical architects in spain is especially analyzed, in which these technical level professionals want to become architects. the reasons that encourage them to return to college and the various difficulties they encounter are discussed. besides describing the specific experience, the paper presents an analysis of literature information regarding adult education in similar studies and the results, from the skills training perspective, are discussed. several conclusions related to the students, the instructors, the teaching-learning system and the skill training are drawn.
