the human rights tradition as it has developed in western democracies, evidences particular developments in islam, which, although they are diverse in terms of their origin and the interpretation of rights, show points of convergence with the typically western tradition. human rights in islam can be interpreted as intents to bring western and islamic traditions together in political code. the documentary analysis method was used. conclusions were that civil islamic society needs to be incorporated in the debate about human rights as well as in the deepening of the intercultural dialog between the west and the islamic world.
