Protección social al adulto mayor: un análisis del ordenamiento jurídico venezolano

the phenomenon of population aging should be analyzed in an integral manner, because a multiplicity of varied agents, economic, social, political, demographic, cultural, among others, intervene in it. international organisms, such as the united nations (un), international labor organization (ilo) and the world health organization (who) have been approaching this complex reality in an integral manner, from which the latin american countries and especially venezuela, do not escape. this study investigates, according to hierarchical kelseyan principles, the positive legal code that guarantees social protection for the elderly in the country, considering the institutions, benefits and programs the legislator has developed to take care of the contingencies of this ever-increasing population sector. this study is of a documentary type and the methodology used is descriptive, since diverse aspects are examined related to the current normative dispositions, recording, analyzing and interpreting data extracted from existing documentary sources. from the results obtained, it is evident that, despite having a complex set of legal regulatory dispositions of both national and international character, in practice, without ignoring the advance of the measures applied by the national executive, only limited integral attention toward this important population group is still observed, despite the fact that the philosophical and sociological bases guiding the normative set are the guarantee for a dignified and decorous existence in conditions of equality and non-discrimination.
