Entre el Código Civil y el Código de Policía: Trabajo, orden doméstico y legislación laboral en el Caribe colombiano en el siglo XIX

this article analyzes socio-labor relationships in the colombian caribbean (1850-1930), in the light of legal and political discussions developed in the nineteenth century regarding unqualified labor and with which legal field it should be associated. this documentary study demonstrates that, by associating unqualified labor with the domestic unit, semi-servile forms of relationships were accentuated among broad population sectors. in many places, this association led socio-labor relationships to acquire semi-servile work characteristics.
