this study analyzes the interrelations between democracy and labor law. it is a documentary investigation that studies venezuelan historical development from independence to the present, relating labor law development with the rise and strengthening of democracy to conclude that it is not possible to enjoy labor rights under dictatorial or authoritarian regimes and that without labor union freedom, it is likewise impossible to advance in democratizing society.
