Piedra Raja: La arquitectura hidráulica INKA de escala monumental en El Shincal de QuimivilDOI: 10.4067/S0718-10432011000200003 Keywords: irrigation system, nw argentina, hydraulic work. Abstract: within inka spatial planning, rocky bodies that are worked and shaped for use in particular activities are incorporated and are as important as water transport. here we present a recent monumental architecture find concerning the channeling of water for the el shincal de quimivil zone, home to the eponymous site, which served an important function as state capital. the piedra raja has five sections that allow for the distribution of large volumes of water in different directions. our parallel aims are to correlate this finding with the phenomenon of carved rock systematically primarily recorded in the central andes and to discuss the incorporation of distant spaces within tawantinsuyu through the continuity of sacred points in space.
