CARACTERíSTICAS HISTOLóGICAS DE LAS FASES REPRODUCTIVAS DEL ALGA ROJA GRACILARIA BLODGETTII (GRACILARIACEAE)

the carposporophyte and tetrasporophyte phases of gracilaria blodgettii, are based on morphological and histological descriptions. vegetative and reproductive thalli were collected between may and october of 2006, and between september and december of 2008, in the bay of santa catalina, old providence island, colombian caribbean. the carposporophyte showed cystocarps throughout the thallus, with oblong structures, and a nucleus surrounded by an internal medullar pericarp. the tetrasporophytic stage corresponds to individual diploids, characterized by the presence of cruciate tetrasporangium, with cubical to ovate shape.
