Crecimiento ganadero y ocupación de tierras públicas, causas de conflictividad en la frontera bonaerenseKeywords: livestock increase, indian attacks, conflicts, buenos aires border. Abstract: undoubtedly, during the xviiith and xixth centuries, war between whites and different native groups in the buenos aires border was very violent. although it can be said that this war was permanent, it intensified during cattle expansion periods. this study considers four moments in the cattle expansion process, whose general characteristics were both herd increase and the occupation of new lands. these facts were followed by the reaction of the indians who made their malones larger, -these at first were small, but eventually became massive- seeking for any livestock in buenos aires farms. the four periods under study are: 1. the one since the last vaquerías (wild cattle hunting) in 1718; 2. the viceroyalty formation and new trade conditions; 3° cattle expansion from 1810 and land occupation beyond the salado; 4° the enormous increase since caseros.
