Abstract: prejudice is a destructive and pervasive social problem. the main objective of this paper is to report the prejudice levels of the second region population (chile) towards bolivian immigrants (antofagasta is a reception area with high number of latin american immigrants). the random and probability sample consisted of 896 participants between 18 and 65 years. we used a chilean version of the blatant and subtle prejudice scale (pettigrew y meertens, 1995) and its typology to compare these groups in a set of variables. the results indicate high levels of prejudice (m subtle = 3.38; m blatant = 2.86) of both subtle and blatant, and positive correlation between the two forms of prejudice (r = .53). the statistical difference between the two types of prejudice is significant. the younger age groups showed significantly lower levels of blatant prejudice and women showed significantly higher levels than men.
