Abstract: this article discusses the theoretical developments supporting the description of a new syndrome - the ulysses syndrome, also known as immigrant syndrome with chronic and multiple stress - detected in non-eu immigrants. the diagnostic criteria that lead to the recognition of this syndrome have been disseminated with the support of the european parliament. the importance given by parliament, to a problem that affects non-eu citizens poses an inquiry into the aims it pursues.
