Alteraciones neuro-oftalmológicas en pacientes que presentan enfermedades mitocondriales

mitocondrial diseases produce a series of neuro-ophthalmological diseases. the must comon, optic atrophy, oftalmoplegia, pigmentary retinopaty and retroquiamatic alterations. twenty three patients with mitocondrial disease diagnosed by muscle biopsy were studied, 69.6% had decrease of visual acuity. no tratment is available at the moment but the diagnosis is basic for prognosis and avoid unnecessary treatments
