in argentina, the development of specialist journalism in architecture was possible in the frame of the modern process at the end of the 19th century, which gave impulse to this activity tied to the function of the technical personnel and intellectuals in the construction of consensus and hegemony. the history of the development of journalism in the argentine case is deeply tied to the different ？moments？ of the process of modernization, where several are combined like principal factors (immigration, urbanization, social mobility, and public education) in what we can name the construction of the demand, that is to say, the conformation of a reading public. technical journalism arose at the end of the 19th century with the creation of the institutions of vocational training linked to engineering and architecture reached specificity and variety in the 20th century, accompanying the growth and consolidation of the discipline of the architecture. at present these publications constitute a valuable source to approach the study of architecture of the 20th century and to understand the participation of the technician (engineers and architects) in the modern project. the appearance and diffusion of the magazines of architecture, between architects and their potential clients, helped to agglutinate the identity of the nascent corporation finding a space in a flourishing country, pure promise and future. every group that founds directs and finances a magazine does it because they have something important to say. between technical personnel, the word is not only a word, it implies action, transformation of the real world: in the magazines it is urged to discuss. conducts are promoted and shape practices, there are established codes that point to homogenize the field of discipline, to construct their own identity, to differ from the ？upstarts？ and to be legitimized opposite clients. in this paper we analyze the primary role of the technical press in the development of the main
