Efecto del estrés salino sobre la germinación de las semillas de Conyza canadensis y Conyza bonariensis

conyza canadensis and c. bonariensis are weeds of increasing importance in world. soil salinity is regarded as one of the major abiotic stresses, causing damage to plant metabolism and deleterious effects in many physiological processes of plants, including germination of species of agronomic interest such as weeds. in order to increase knowledge about the biology of germination of c. canadensis and c. bonariensis, we evaluated the effect of salt stress, with solutions of mgcl2 and cacl2, on the germination of their seeds. mgcl2 significantly reduced germination in c. bonariensis, while cacl2 did it in c. canadensis, from concentrations of 4,0 and 6,0 cmolc·dm-3, respectively. in general, for both species and salts, the germination rate decreased from 2.0 cmolc·dm-3.
