Oraciones impersonales en el habla de Mérida (Venezuela): varias configuraciones, un fenómenoKeywords: impersonal sentences, presence/absence of subject, speaker?s commitment . Abstract: the purpose of this study is: a) to determine the frecuency of impersonal clauses in the speech of merida and b) to establish relationships auses between the presence/abs absence of (grammatical or logical) subjects and speakers? ence commitment. therefore, we chose 24 speakers' interviews from herefore, el habla de mérida (domínguez and mora 1998). we identified 130 impersonal clauses, representing 5.63% of the studied sample. this low frequency is due to the fact that, in oral language, there is recurrent reference to the speakers. equally equally, we find that the presence or absence of the subject does not necessarily indicate degree of speakers? commitment, but rather it responds to morphosyntactic and semantic restrictions.
