Sobre el caso del caso: las construcciones del tipo ？el caso + nominal？ en un corpus de textos periodísticos chilenos

the present paper studies a little explored construction, ？el caso + nominal？ (？the noun + case？) in chilean press discourse on judicial matters (e.g. the pinochet case.) an analysis of a corpus of chilean press discourse reveals that this construction depends on the semantic frame of the judicial event involved and that the nominal selected refers to one of the elements in the frame. it is also suggested that the selection of a nominal is determined by the element？s relative prominence; that this prominence depends on the perspective from which the agent constructs the event referred to in the judicial case; and that this perspective is conditioned by contextual and possibly ideological factors.
