Abstract:

tropical dry forests in colombia are one of the least studied ecosystems and they have the least coverage in the country today. daytime butterflies are no exception to this lack of studies. for this reason, this research described the diversity of daytime butterflies (hesperioidea-papilionoidea) in the regional natural park el vínculo (buga). three field-trips were carried out implementing collection with entomological nets and van someren-rydon traps. rarefaction curves were used to determine the sampling effectiveness. the registered species were categorized according with the quantity in: abundant (from 2 to 5 records) and rare (only one record). a total of 689 individuals were recorded distributed in 6 families, 19 sub-families, 149 genera and 213 species. the effectiveness of the sampling was 88.75% achieving the determination of 15 abundant species, 11 common species, 70 scarce species, and 177 rare species. among the most abundant species the most outstanding were: auctochton zarex (hesperiidae-pyrginae), tithorea harmonia and mechanitis polymnia caucaensis (nymphalidae-ithomiinae), representing 12.33% of relative abundance in the sampling. these results demonstrate de great diversity of daytime butterflies in the natural regional park el vinculo.
