Abstract: lutzomyia longipalpis species complex with neotropical distribution are the main vectors of visceral leishmaniasis. in venezuela, and the two species of the complex are designated l. longipalpis sensu lato (c2 species) with a distribution north of the orinoco (mostly) and l. pseudolongipalpis (distributed in lara state). however, this study shows for the first time the occurrence of specimens of this complex of sand fly in the northernmost region of the country, the paraguaná peninsula, and in association with cave bats, based on the collection of sandfly adult males.
