Obten??o de BaTiO3 livre de resíduos de carbonato de bário pelo método dos precursores poliméricosDOI: 10.1590/S0366-69132011000300013 Keywords: barium titanate, pechini, nanoparticles, decontamination. Abstract: one of the challenges in preparing nanoparticles of barium titanate is the complete reaction of the precursors to obtain the tetragonal phase. the polymeric precursor method has been used as an efficient technique for this purpose. however, due to high concentration of carbon in the resin and the high thermodynamic stability of barium carbonate, there is often a formation of intermediate phases that require calcinations time and temperatures above 900 °c to obtain the desired phase with no residual carbonates. moreover, carbonates can form on the surface of powdered batio3 modifying the conditions of dispersion in water and iep. the aim of this study was to establish procedures for obtaining nanosized batio3 powder via pechini method without carbonate contaminants. a detailed study of surface chemistry through zeta potential measurements showed that it is possible to obtain nanometric powders free of barium carbonate by washing the powder with nitric acid solution.
