Abstract:

in greek, there are basically two words referring to happinness: eudaimonía and eutykhía. our research explores the meanings of the term eudaimonía in philo, who, as a master and guide of the jewish school of alexandria, applied himself in his wide work to the task of interpreting mosaic law with the terminology of the greek paideia. therefore, our reading of the philonian text tackles their two sources: the jewish and the alexandrian. we summarized the helenic roots in the aristotelian ones and focused on the figure of the philonian ontology, isaac, as a paradigmatic case of eudaimonía in terms of allegoric interpretation.
