this essay purports a typology of futurist representations made in films, using various approaches to modernity addressed by both the social sciences and the humanities. the text remit is laid out in three sections: the first describes the historical processes of modernity; the second discusses the cognitive mediations of futurist cinema and the third addresses some of the attributes regarding contemporary aesthetics of science-fiction.
