Abstract: patients with febrile neutropenia are a heterogeneous population. the current tendency of the majority of specialists consists in giving an individual treatment adapted to the risk of complications. the critical aspect is to find suitable variables to select the low risk patients. unfortunately, the most common prognostic systems have an unacceptable rate of error. the purpose of this study is to analyze all the significant prognostic factors when making an algorithm based on risk factors. the prognostic utility of talcott and mascc systems is controversial. therefore, we propose to integrate the clinical, laboratory and microbiological data in the prognostic schedule.
