this paper refiects on the issue of duty conflicts from a kantian moral perspective. firstly, it argues that the generality and the formality of moral norms are conditions of the senses, which make it difficult to conceive of moral conflicts. secondly, it points out that the specification of norms is also a condition of the senses, which allows for time to think of conflicts. thirdly, it argues that conflicts can be avoided by means of a situational specification of norms. the paper then reveals the limits of this specification, which leads back to the notion of the inevitability of conflicts. finally, it refiects on the relationship between conflicts and freedom.
