Abstract: the principal objective of the study was to analyze attitudes towards multicultural education in a group of chileans student teachers. the design was exploratory, descriptive and correlational. one-hundred and seventeen individuals aged 17 to 33 participated and were given the multicultural education scale of attitudes (cabrera, espín, marín & rodríguez, 1997a). results indicated that the selected instrument presented acceptable psychometric properties and the individuals' attitudes showed a favorable trend, with the exception of the variable named negative multiculturality. however, a significant number of individuals showed intermediate attitudes, which could indicate subtle prejudice. better attitudes were observed among women and in individuals who have been associated with immigrants.
