justin of rome (justin martyr) is the first christian writer who has maintained an inseparable link between faith and reason. thus, he has affirmed the universal and unique nature of christian thought, and therefore, in the thesis of this research, he possesses the legitimate title of the first catholic philosopher. this article delves into justin's cultural background, to later show the philosophical importance of his apology, and, how, finally, in his dialogue with trypho, his philosophical doctrine is confirmed or broadened, with the jewish people now as the recipients of such demonstration.
