Abstract: urban territory, understood in this paper as a synonym for culture and power relationships, as well as the process of gentrification - where currently, due to globalization and intense environmental degradation, citizens are considered customers- are submitted to economic rationality. therefore, it is important for the citizenry that the historical-cultural heritage be inserted in the list of environmental education concerns, as a strategy for understanding the territorial dynamic and improving urban public policies that contribute to integrated, social territorial management of brazilian cities.
