Estimates of genetic variability in mutated populations and the scope of selection for yield attributes in Vigna radiata (L.) WilczekAbstract: A significant increase in mean values of the fertile branches per plant, pods per plant and seed yield per plant was noticed in mutants of mungbean (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) – a selffertilized crop. Estimates of genetic parameters (genotypic coefficient of variation, heritability and genetic advance) for the yield and its components were higher than the control in two generations. The increased genetic variability for these traits provides great scope for further selection.
