In vitro toxic effects of cadmium on haemocytes of Litopenaeus vannamei
|
Abstract:
After 6 h in vitro exposure to 10-9-10-3 M Cd2+, cell viability and ROS production of Litopenaeus vannamei haemocytes were determined by flow cytometry. The results showed that ROS production of haemocytes was significantly induced by 10-5-10-3 M cadmium. Exposure to 10-4 and 10-3 M cadmium caused significant increase in both cell mortality and ROS production. These results showed a relationship between Cd2+ exposure dose and its cytotoxicity on shrimp haemocytes. ROS of haemocytes would be induced for Cd2+ above 10-5 M, but cell death caused by ROS only occurred for Cd2+ above 10-4 M.
