Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites produced by certain fungi, which can trigger cancers, deformity and mutation, and are greatly harmful to cells, kidney, reproductive system and immune system. In the processes of planting, harvesting, processing, transportation and storage, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) can be contaminated easily by mycotoxins. Not only could it influence the quality and efficacy of TCM, but also do great harm to human body. Therefore, it seems important and necessary to establish sensitive and accurate methods to detect the mycotoxins in TCM. This paper reviewed the advancement of detection methods for mycotoxins in TCM to provide some references for related studies.
